I recently acquired a semi sporterized Winchester model of 1917 rifle . I bought it with the idea of rebarreling for 375 hh , but first I would like to restock it in a nice piece of walnut and maybe shoot it a few times before I rebarrel . my question is should I go with classic stock or monte carlo ? I know I want ebony fore end and hand oiled finish just not sure about style . I like scopes so I will scope it with detachable rings .

I would also appreciate any thoughts on barrel length and contour for proper balance of 375 h&h in this action .

thanks ,
ruff
