A thousand dollars for the factory to replace your stock sounds expensive. One option you may want to consider is a replacent stock from Serengeti Stockworks www.serengetistockworks.com

The build the nicest looking laminated stocks I've ever seen. I got one in AAA Claro a couple of months ago, and It's magnificient. It ran me close to $1500.00 'til it was all done, but that included the AAA blank, shaping, inletting, slimline cheekpiece, 2 crossbolts installed, glass bedding, Decelerator Pad, sling studs, Westley Richards style 4 panel checkering, oil finish, and Falcon Cote applied to all metal.

This was on a Model 70 in .375 Ackley Improved.

They are very good people to deal with, and they kept me up to date with frequent emails concerning the stock progress. As I said, these are laminated stocks, but they don't look like any laminated stock you've ever seen. Check out their website, and let me know what you think.
