I haven't heard of it but then again, I didn't realise that the 450 Rigby exisited until about a year ago, and I've only seen one of those.

It's all about marketing, no matter what the technical benefits are, and after you make it known that it exists, you gotta make people want one. Classic tale of the old video tape story - Beta was better than VHS (smaller tapes better quality video) but VHS was marketed quite aggressively and became more popular, and eventually killed off Beta.
