It seems to be a regular magnum length action. The rifle was manufactured around '82 or '83. It's in the wooden monte carlo stock and has the second recoil lug mounted on the barrel. It appears to be the same as the Whitworth express model only with different stock and non-express rear sight. I hear what you're saying about smoothing the action out, but it functions pretty smoothly as is. I bought it from a local guy who put only 10 rounds through it. He bought it new in '83 or '84. It's a nice rifle in near perfect condition.
