double rifle use in the rain

As I sat here today listening to he seemingly inceasant rain, I began wondering how many of you carry your doubles hunting in the rain. I mean rain that is steady or occasional but heavy.

If one was on a traveling type hunt, you don't have a choice; you just use what you have. I generally hunt locally; and being something of a "gunbug", I have several rifles to choose from. I generally use a synthetic stocked mauser sporter with a teflon-like finish or a McMillian Safari Talon in dark colored stainless steel when it is rainy.

Now, I use a wax on the metal and wood of my double. I have not taken off the wood and sealed the end grain. I think this might be a good idea. What other techniques do you use to protect your double in rainy weather?
