The cartridges are only slightly different in length,just enough to avoid compacting the powder, with the 458LOTT being 3.60" OAL, and the 458 Win Mag being 3.30" OAL. 3 tenths of an inch isn't a big deal.

Most likely some rifles would still feed ok.
However that three tenths of an inch is 300 thou!
By changing from 458 Lott to 458 Win you are doing a similar thing to altering your bullet seating depth by almost 5/16 of an inch!
Actually the length difference between 458 Win and 458 Lott is basicly the same as the length difference between 30-06 and 375 H&H! A bit more than "slight" IMO!

Of course all mine have been CRF rifles, which have the cartridge in it's grip as soon as it pops free of the magazine, and is held in line with the chamber.
