I can only go by the three Lott rifles I've owned and hunted with. None of them had any problem feeding 458 WIN MAG rounds, into LOTT chambers. Of course all mine have been CRF rifles, which have the cartridge in it's grip as soon as it pops free of the magazine, and is held in line with the chamber. The part of the case that rides the loading rails, on a 458 WM, is exactly the same as that part of the LOTT, and the fact that it is a little shorter, causes less downward pressure for the bullet weight being closer to the bold face on the 458WM, than on the LOTT.

The cartridges are only slightly different in length,just enough to avoid compacting the powder, with the 458LOTT being 3.60" OAL, and the 458 Win Mag being 3.30" OAL. 3 tenths of an inch isn't a big deal.

I'd hardly call that a "HUGE" difference, in a CRF rifle! In a Mod 70, or FN Mauser there is no problem in working 458 Win Mag ammo in a 458 LOTT rifle, in my experience. The only draw back I find with useing 458 WM in LOTT rifle is haveing to put up with 458 WM factory ammo, and the possibility of burning a ring it the chamber!

If you are driveing 400, or 500 miles to hunt, I can see you not wanting to use the 458 WM ammo in a LOTT, but I fail to see how one could loose his ammo driveing. However, when one spends $2500 US for airfare,another $1500 for a charter, and 15,000 US on a hunt, the fact that the ammo will work is a boone,IMO, if the re-routeing demons ship your LOTT ammo to Anchorage airport in stead of MAUN Botswana! What-ch thank!
