Alex Martin's probably did what every other gunmaker did regarding Mannlichers and Enfields.

They would most likely buy a case of rifles, which may have had a little extra stock work done in house (special checkering or minor reshaping and refinishing), nicer sights fitted, a little engraving, and the rifle would be shot and sighted in. They would often be engraved "Sighted and Regulated by .........". I have a Dickson so marked. These rifles went into stock on the rack.

Occasionally you'll see one which got an in house stock.

Archie Nelson used to tell the story about finding a case of Mannlichers in the basement early in his career at Dickson's. No one new how long they had been there, but they got them out and cleaned off the grease and sold them. This was the early 70's I believe.
