I suspect that is the case. Why I was asking are there complications with these barrels, especially as you say the locking lugs are in the barrel where they need to be on a good takedown.

I also have another barrel which was for another question but dependent on the first question's answers.

I spoke to Mauser directly about custom chamberings and their answer was they do not do them. I believe I know of a couple of owners who do have custom chamberings for their rifles however.

At a separate occasion at a SHOT Show here in Australia I had the Mauser rep (from Germany) lie about certain chamberings being available.

I asked him about the 6.5x68, he replied it was not available but the 6.5x65 RWS was instead. Because I knew this cartridge had also been discontinued and when I confronted him with this, he was lost for a reply ... not a good sales technique to lie to customers. JMO.
