My brother has a local sharpening business - knives, axes, scissors - both standard and hair cutting. His stuff is scary sharp - all on stones, ceramic stones, synthetic stones, etc. You could shave with anything he sharpens, including the scissors.
I lack that sharpening skill, preferring to get a good edge with my stones, then hone that edge into scary sharpness on a long set of alumina (not ceramic) sticks or a fine diamond hone. A good stopping makes them popping sharp.
