I am looking to have a DR made in .375 Flanged Magnum.

Some comments. It is planned to use this rifle for a lot of different hunting. Buffalo, elephant, etc, plus larger plains game. Deer, pigs, boar, moose etc etc.

As such open sights won't do all that is required. In some form or other the rifle will be used for some longer ranged shooting. By this I mean realistic ranges, 200 metres, maybe 300 metres. At the longer ranges even if only one barrel cuts it.

The scope will be something like a 1-4x, S&B, Zeiss, Swarovski, or similar.

While maybe superfluous I would like a Docter dot point option as well ...

I have been asked to specify the regulation required.

One scenario (recommended):
- regulate the barrels with the primary sight being the scope. A inch apart at 100 metres.
- without the scope fitted, it was mentioned the open sights will shoot about 25 mm's crossing at 50 metres.

Second scenario:
- regulate the barrels for the express sights, an inch apart approx at 100 m.
- with the scope fitted, the shots will be several inches apart at 100 metres.

Dot point sight:
- it was mentioned the dot point sight will also act somewhat like a scope in terms of its effect on regulation.
- my comment - perhaps less so, as it would be lighter?

Third scenario:
My comments only.
- IF the dot point sight affects the regulation similar to the scope in actual practice, it could be an alternative to the open sights, when the scope is not desired.

My initial preference was the second option. ie the express sights the most reliable option. Use the scope, sighted in for one barrel, try it out in actual practice to see how it performs.

My new preference is the first option. I will almost certainly use the scope most of the time for most of my hunting. If the scope is removed, 50 metres and crossing slightly won't be a big impediment for close shooting with a scope removed.

Try out the dot point sight and see how it performs.
