I've ordered probably a dozen Russells. I OWN I think six pairs. Of the six, one pair were sent back for replacement twice for not fitting; another once. Two I no longer own were sent back for not fitting. Hell, I couldn't even get my foot into one pair! Oh, and yes, I was measured by folks at Russell. This over a 20 year period of owning and wearing Russells. With that said, a few years ago I took one of the pair with me to SHOT to show them how they didn't fit and turn them over. Turned them in, got measured again and left. I stopped at Westley Richards (Courteney US importer) and tried on a pair of Safaris. I slipped my orthodics in them, paid, wore them a few minutes and then took the other pair of Russells I'd had on over to drop off with Russell for resoling. I've been almost astounded by the comfort and wear of the Courteneys. I've worn them all over the world (US, Africa, Europe, Australia, Afghanistan(not much, but!)) and have used them for my infamous 'dung pics' to add as reference for size. I wear mine with custom inserts due to my multi injured flat feet but the little I wore them with the included inserts were comfortable. I pretty much have to remind myself to wear my Russells nowadays. When Russells are right- they are great I'm on probably the 4th soles for my original pair BUT the anal pain of ordering and returning gets pretty old. I may order another pair of Russells someday when I'm more settled but I'll definitely get another pair of Courteneys to have as a back up.

A few things to consider-
Courteneys work well in dry conditions.
Russells are NOT waterproof. They don't use Gore-Tex or any other liner. Depending on the leather and design, they can work okay in damp conditions. If ordered properly, they can work very well in dry conditions.
