The metallurgy is not as strong in the early MS as in say a 1950 model. I would not load it as hot as Norma 8x57, for example. Fired some Norma in my first m. 1908, (had been converted to 8x57) and bolt lift was somewhat stiff. Might expand some metal at the bolt face, might set back at the lugs a little over time...plus, a dead deer won't know the difference when firing a slightly milder load, anyway. Steve
