Yup - I can see why Harold Johnson of Cooper's Landing Alaska liked them for guiding, in .450 Alaskan and .50 Alaskan.
The .50 was his end-all masterpiece chambering, using a 450gr. cup-pointed steel cored shortened .5 bullet at about 1,850fps. They were cut off just above the cannelure, then reversed so the normal bullet's boat-tailed base cup, became the bullet's nose. The weight was 450gr. Harold noted he could not keep one inside a brown bear, that all exited but due to the 'cup' point, made some wonderful cavitation on the tissue as they penetrated.
