The Afrika Modell did come with a much longer barrel and a lengthened forend on the stock that did not go all the way to the front of the barrel. I have seen and fondled one in a collection in Brookfield WI - it was different from this one in the shape of the front end of the stock, though. But then my less than 2c comes from the one rifle in this type that I have seen and handled.

Thank you, Lancaster, for the always interesting guns that you post pictures of! There's always something of beauty and I look forward to your posts.

PS I have posted pictures of a very unusual Afrika Modell with a lot of unusual factory features a while ago on these very forums. As Lancaster points out, anything was likely possible from Oberndorf . . .
