The only "Rift" I will see will be on this continent, the handiest being the Powder River Breaks country to my east. I hunted the west side yesterday and as it can be a bit steep and I am a bit more that out of shape, I decided to take a new-to-me light rifle for the foray. This is an area where I can motor around (many methane roads) and "stalk" from high point to high point searching for Elk. All the drainages are thickly populated on the north/west exposures with Juniper, Greasewood, Salt Cedar, etc.....The specific area I was in has very good high grass as well. Ample water and good feed help to hold huntable(find-able) numbers Elk.
After a morning of glassing, with one small bull located, I swung to a south mountain and started up the search-a-new. As the noon our was nearing, they would be bedded or looking to bed for the heat of the day. After locating the herd, a rather long stalk/walk took place commulating into a easy crawl. A simple cross drainage shot of under 200yds produced the desired results.

While the rifle is not worthy of discussion on this forum, it does wear Zeiss optics and is chambered for the 6.5x55mm "Swedish" cartridge. A 140gr Nosler Partition at 2820fps MV, surely did what we all know it is capable of.
