We do a lot of Father & Son hunts and 16 is not particularly young.........The youngest we've had was 11 years old. You'll both have a have great time.

The way you hunt (1x1 or 2x2 etc) is entirely up to you. If you want to get the most enjoyment out of seeing your son on his first African hunt then 2x1 is the best choice (and the least expensive) If you think he'll have more confidence if he doesn't have you looking over his shoulder then go for the 2x2 option. It really all depends on your son's confidence and personality....... But any African hunt shared by Father & Son will create a bond between you that you'll both treasure forever.

I would personally recommend that you avoid package hunts. They can look cheaper at first glance, but there's no such thing as a free lunch and by paying for your animals on an individual basis you'll only pay for the animals you actually take. The other drawback to packages is that they can encourage mediocrity.

As to places, I would suggest Botswana Namibia or RSA would give you the most suitable hunt for your particular needs and you might like to take a look at my website or e-mail me for details of all of those countries. RSA has new (very strict) firearms laws which have caused big problems for some people, but if your outfitter has everything organised it's nothing to be worried about and any delay will be minimal.

I'd suggest that you need to be very careful when choosing your safari company as there are a lot of "unprofessional" operations out here and you need to pick your outfitter very carefully.
