In such a situation, looking for a pissed off leopard, I'd recommend that armed people stay in a line side by side, close to one another. This way they haven't to ascertain the position of others prior to shooting. That saves some precious time. Moreover the leopard would charge the block of people, one target only, and everybody is facing the leopard and it's easier to shoot a straight coming animal. This way, one could hope that almost eveybody can shoot and the leopard will meet a curtain of lead. Should it possibe to shoot kneeled, the better.
Tristan Peacock, leopard man, has his definitive opinion for dealing with a charging leopard, what he experienced a lot of times. First priority to the client, the client must shoot first. As it's during the hunt, no need to look for a 12 gauge. The client is using his rifle and Tristan his 416 CZ. The trick is letting the leopard coming close before shooting. He recommends 15m, 10 m being better for accuracy. In most cases, the client smashs the cat. He noticed that Europeans, who are used with running game during beat hunts, are more accurate and can wait before shooting. Usually not so with Americans who are prone to shoot as soon as they see the coming cat, and consequently missed at least their first shots. According to Tristan, there is no possible miss at short distance. He and his clients never were injured in proceeding this way.
