My main camera is an old Canon EOS 300D SLR. I am thinking of upgrading it to a Canon EOS 60D which is also a digital SLR cammera, about 18 meg photos, uses the same lens as any in the EOS system, now can also take HD video etc. I have a 75-300 zoom lens for the old camera which is still good, though a little scratched. Might add a 18-135 or 18-200 zoom to carry as a standard instead of the ordinary 18-55 it came with.

I would consider the better EOS 7D but like the pivoting screen on the 60D and 650D. The 7D has a fixed screen on the back. If I had the money I would go for a EOS 5D MkIII which has a lot of better professional features but about 4x-5x the cost of the other models. 18 focus points, 60 shot burst shots, plus other stuff.

The 60D is probably more than I can do with anyway. I almost always carry the SLR when hunting myself, except when it is very wet.

A waterproof pocket camera would be good for boating, canoeing, white water rafting, fishing, dusty, wet humid environments, and also on hunts where scenic photos need to be taken quickly, eg on safari when hunting, getting the SLR out often takes too long and annoys the PHs and trackers ...

Good to have a choice. My wife wants the small one though also for her trips. Has to be easy to use, she requires.
