A lot of countries don't have a lot of public land available for hunting. Obviously if the land is private, it is usually only available for the owners, their guests or invitees.

Some have suitable public land but it is closed to private hunting. These are the worst and much of Australia is like this but it depends on a state by state basis. NSW was one such state but thanks to the Shooters and Fishers Party they managed to get the gov't to open up hundreds of parcels of public land to private hunters. Victoria is another with significant areas available to hunters.

The USA is a great place to allow private hunters so much access to public lands.

Surely it would be more communistic if only gov't employees were permitted? Or if the only game management was culling by gov't cullers?

That would truly be communistic.

When the gov't owns something, it is not owned by the "people", it is restricted FROM the people.

Allowing private persons access is a freedom, not a restriction.

Foolish man.
