Machine Gun Preacher - whats the true story

Machine Gun Preacher is a story of a motor bikie criminal who finds God, goes to the Sudan/Northern Uganda to create an orphanage for war victims, and funds it through a Ministry in the USA.

He also directly fights the rebels who enslave the young boys. Kony and the Lords Army of course being one organisation which operated or operates in the region.

Reportedly based on the true man, Sam Childers, and his story.

But how true is this? Comments please.
