Rhodesian Marks on Mauser ??
      08/05/12 07:41 PM

Hello Guys

My 9.3x62 Mauser has the following mark on the stock, its a "broad arrow" over a "t" within a oval of about 3/8th high. Numerals 379 below. There are no other atypical marks on the rifle - all the rest are just normal Mauser and proof house marks. The rifle recently came out of Rhodesia and had been there since at least the 1940's, possibly since new in the 1920's.

Does anyone know what this marking might indicate.

For example here in New Zealand I understand some civilian rifles were taken in by the armed services here during WWII for use by the Homeguard, some of these surface from time to time with a broad arrow mark.
