Well its been a while but I am getting close, I had to get a tig welding machine and learn to use it so I could get the barrels connected. besides I wanted a tig anyway. I have finished the firing pin mods and should be able to proof it this coming week. OK so I'm the new guy here and I (concededly) don't know how to do this. Which is why i ask: Is it necessary to TIG-weld threaded barrel inserts into the monoblock?? Certainly I have put together plenty of other guns where it was sufficient to simply torque a threaded barrel in.

Relatedly: how deep are you welding? Are these just very light surface welds to take away the "line" or are you actually doing penetrating welds? Doesn't that pose the risk of messing up the temper in the block and/or barrel blanks? If they are just light surface welds to preserve the appearance is TIG even necessary? (e.g. what would be wrong with a MIG set to a very low power setting and using small diameter wire to fill in a shall channel cut along the top of the seam?

It occurred to me that you might be able to very roughly regulate the barrels by seating either or both slightly deeper into the monoblock . . . (?) Obviously once the ribs, etc. are on there that is going to change the harmonics, though.
