Franz Jaeger and many other gun designers through time would not, of course, agree that this system is "over- engineered." This system stands alone as being one of the best systems ever developed for double rifles, due to its strength in containing firing forces. No other double rifle system ever developed has the strength of this Jaeger system, so that alone speaks well for the system. Bolsters on more traditional actions simply don't strengthen them enough to equal the strength of this Jaeger system. It is not a complicated mechanism at all; that is part of its "beauty," but IS complicated to explain it well. It is "hideous," only in the eyes of the beholder, and that brings up the point you are all reflecting, this system is not acceptable to you all, because of its appearance. Thus you all, in your ignorance, poke fun at something just because you don't find it pretty!

No offense to Franz Jaeger but you have to admit, for the strongest Double Rifle Action made, you don't see many of them. Perhaps in small cartridges they would be wonderful. Perhaps trying to extract by finger or tilting the cases hoping they fall out with out hitting the standing breach will not be an issue. Perhaps trying to load new ones with nervous finger, under the hood into the right place will not be a problem. Perhaps

In a DGR it could, and probably would if used enough, be a disaster.
