The rifle is a Type S Sporter (S for "Stutzen" or carbine) and the caliber marking is 8X57 without the "S". However, it is evident that the neck of the chamber is large enough to allow .323" bullets to be fired in it, so the actual diameter of the bullet is immaterial. See the post by kuduae above.
