Actually they both are quite easy cleaning.

My CF has a Pac-Nor 9" twist, 3 groove barrel that needs cleaning about every 400 or 500rounds. I don't know which or if it actually needs it at 500, as I've not breeched 450 in a day's shooting and it is still shooting tiny groups &/or kiling rats at long range at that # of rounds. No metal fouling at all and Ed's Red takes out the powder fouling. My buddies .17AB that I chambered up with another, identical Pac-nor barerl is the same for clean shooting and accuracy.

We shoot all day with them then clean them back in camp while supper's cooking. Cleaning means patches with Ed's Red or when we're lazy enough, Wipe-Out into the bore and patch that out in the morning, then one of Ed's Red, 1 or 2 dry patchs and go shooting again.

The .17 Rimfires, both of which are Mosbergs, get cleaned same way, same time. I used a tight patch with JB compound when they were new - 20 strokes each way and neither picks up any metal fouling and they shoot well and clean easily. Gotta be careful with any abrasive with the bores as most .17's only have .002" rifling depth.

Seeing the impacts is a big thing with us and the reason for the .17's. It's especially good in the wind and longer range shooting. You can see the hit and get a second shot-hit where a .22/250 would let you down. I'm using BC .190 bullets at 3,925fps. They work quite well on gophers, or the 25gr. Vmax, BC about .235 at 3,640fps. They are flatter shooting than most commercial .224's and produce less drift as well.
Doubles and triples (1 shot, 2 or 3 gophers) are fun, but to get a triple I needed to use 25g.r Hornady HP's. The Vmax's break up too quickly for more than close doubles.

Being able to see the hits is enlightening.
