You are of course correct when it comes to Europeans and gadgets (but lets not get into the Blaser and so on...

) However, I do see the benefit of a reticle as I mentioned that works with both the light on or off. Having shot a bit more with it since I posted above, I'd say that I feel that I can get a good snap shot off quicker with the red dot. And this isn't just BS. It's just the way our eyes work. Which is why both our armed forces (and most police forces) use the Swedish Aimpoint on their rifles and machine pistols. If these are good enough to be used in places such as Afganistan and Iraq, I'd think a red dot would be good enough for general hunting. As long as it is just as functionable without the light turned on.

I do think though that there probably is a differance in quality with the differant makes, and that one gets what one pays for. I know Leupold makes quality scopes, but I don't know how good their red dot versions are, since they are rather new. Whilst the Euro producers have been doing this for a while.
