93mouse - your previous expereince with the 8x68S is a wonderful thing to share - thanks for posting it. I-too was wondering about the heavier cone point.

I know Keith was not impressed with the lighter factory ammo in cone points, nor with the H-Mantle factory stuff. He was shooting elk, mooose, mountain goats and big horn sheep, but those bullets did not penetrate well and were very 'soft' acting. He never lost an animal he shot with them, but did not appreciate not being able to trust them for a single shot kill.

Many people don't care how the bullet acted, as long as it does the job in killing the animal. I prefer to have a properly expanding/penetrating bullet kill the animal, one that can be trusted from any angle - Elmer's 'raking shots' seem to happen often.

From what I've seen, bullets like the Noslers, TSX's, Hydro's, TUG's & Swifts work litterally every time. That's what I want in a bullet. Unfortunately here, the Hydro's might not be legal for shooting game. The TSX's are legal due to their hollow point, expanding nature. The Hydro's would be classified as a full metal jacket 'solid', just like a FMJ "X" bullet or mil-spec bullet would be classified. It is illegal in BC to shoot a big game animal with a 'solid', non-expanding bullet.
