Whenever I've seen a 2nd hand lubrisizer for sale at a reasonable price, I've bought it and so I've now got an older Lyman model, a new Lyman and an RCBS one. I tend to adjust the Lyman machines for one calibre each and vary the RCBS as it seems to be more robust. I only have two real problems.

1. It's easy to cross thread the sizing die retaining nut on the Lyman. I solve this by playing the heat gun over the die hole (for want of a better word) and the nut so that any stray lubricant is nice and runny and then the nut tends to go in straight first time. I gently press the nut in place with the flat of the spanner using the ram before I try to tighten it, this helps keep it straight.

2. In using the lubrisizer I often get lubricant squeezed under the base of the bullet. This wipes off but I've never quite understood why it will happen every few bullets or so. I try to establish a regular routine with the pressure screw but it still happens. Maybe I should use a stiffer grease and I've tried that but then I can't work the damn thing at all in winter. Life's too short to drain the lubricant in and out whenever the weather changes. I might try a harder grease with a Lyman heater that goes under the lubrisizer or I might just put up with it.

I did have a go at making my own lubricant but gave up because I couldn't beat the commerical stuff and I was spending more money.
