It does sound as though you are on the right track Trophet with your loads, and nicely cast bullets too. Like you I have found a single wool wad down on the powder gives excellent powder ignition even with the slower 2209 (4350 equivalent)I'm using in my 404 with cast bullets, and the wad burns cleanly away albiet with a burning hair smell and slight puff of smoke. All very "period" for an early nitro express I like to think

Those 9.3 cast bullets through the shoulders should anchor any boar I would think and I wouldn't be too afraid of planting them where it hurts in a buffalo either.
