In Canada, as private citizens, we cannot legally use firearms to defend our homes Ben, but what we chose to use to defend our selves & homes with, lies with our own concience.

A "jury of our peers" has the final voice. Too, the Criminal Code still maintains that one may "use as much force as is necessary to prevent the continuation of the offense" - that's from memory, but is still there after 40 years of oppressive gun control. This "force" that may be used, is that which would be possibly deemed necessary in the eyes of a 'normal' person. This also helps.
