Thus far my experiences with S&B 9.3X74R ammunition in doubles rifles has been limited to the use of their cartridges loaded with their 285 grain SP RN bullets in a SXS and an O/U. When I last compared the S&B's to NORMA's 286 grain "Alaska" rounds they chronographed at an average of 20 ft/sec faster which isn't much of course. The S&B's were moving along at an average of 2273 ft/sec out of a set of 25 3/4" SXS barrels. The other observance of note when comparing these two cartridges was how consistently both grouped at 50 yards. On that afternoon I alternated shooting a pair of the S&B's with a pair of the NORMA's and with three salvos each managed to cut one hole from the right tube and the same for the left. All of this could be coincidence of course with the temperature, the way I was holding the gun, etc. and particular to the gun I was using but it was kind of neat to see, for one the gun seemed to not notice the difference. As to performance "in the field" the last critter that I took with the S&B 9.3X74R 285 SP RN was a 300 lb. Russian boar:

With all this, IMHO they work just fine.

PS - In another month or so I will be running a bunch of S&B 8X57JR 196 grain SP RN through a SXS double rifle as well as quite a few handload combinations which should be interesting ... well for me anyway.
