First, you don't have to go to Africa to find "Dangerous Game". North America has many critters that can be considered quite dangerous at times.

That being said and given only the two selections mentioned, I would opt for the .375 - it is "enough" gun for everything from crows to whatever might want to put a tooth, tusk or claw into you in North America.

My particular choice for a using caliber for anywheres is the .416 Taylor. Sure, it is a LOT of gun - much more than the .375. BUT, you don't always have to shoot top-end, jacketed rounds. Cast bullets can easily and cheaply be used with phenomenal effect at velocities that are a real pleasure to shoot. It is very comforatble, however, to know that you can stop - not just shoot, but STOP - anything with the rifle in your hands!
