It is indeed a Greifelt drilling, one of two I am proud to own. Manufactured in 1939.

Hard to judge "preiswert", since I traded an original S&W Schofield revolver for it, one which I had bought years earlier at a very reasonable price.

I, too, was intrigued as to why the Model 96 action would have been chosen for such an intense cartridge. I have a reproduction Greifelt catalog which lists a Greifelt bolt action rifle, but only with the Model 98 action featuring calibers 8X60, 9X57, and at an increased price 7X64, 8X64, or 10.75X68. Additionaly two African cartridges were offered, the 11.2X72 Schuler and the 12.5X70 (.500 Jeffery). Although the catalog is not dated, since neither the 7X57 nor the 8X57JS were offered, I presume that the ban on military cartriges in hunting rifles was still in effect.
