Discussion on another thread about O/U doubles suggests that the O/U style is slower and harder to load the chambers than the side by side rifles.
I'm keen to determine if this is true or and would like to know what SxS users consider is a fast reload time for their rifles.

To try and keep the timing method consistant, start your stopwatch exactly as you fire your SECOND barrel, break the gun, remove the fired cases or snap caps, reload the chambers, close and shoulder the gun, fire the third shot when the sights are aligned and stop the clock as you do.
This way the load time is measured from firing your second shot to the firing of your third shot after reloading.
The easiest way to do this is to use snapcaps for the first two shots and dummy rounds for the reload.(empty case with bullet seated no primer or powder)
You do not actually need to snap the lock for your third shot but call for the person to stop the clock as soon as the rifle is back at your shoulder and you are ready to take the shot.
This avoids snapping the lock on the unprimed dummy cartridge/s.

It doesn't matter what style you use to do the reload or whether your rifle has ejectors or extractors.

So lets see how fast a "fast reload" really is.
To keep things real, maybe we should quote "fastest" and also "average" times. (say over 4 or 5 attempts)
