Thanks for the comments guys!

Ben, all where taken in Namibia's Caprivi, except the kudu, which where taken in Southern Namibia.

Neale, no. 3 and no. 6 where attemted frontal brain shots, the rest either side brain of heart shots (sometimes also attemted.) The average shooting distance where less than 20 yards, but for a lot of the hunters posted, it was their first elephant hunt, and sometimes they could be very intimedating to first time ele hunters, so shot placement is not always the same as on the range. Overall, I love the brainshot, preferably from side, at 15 yards or less, but as I say to all my clients (the experienced ones also), if you are not 100% sure where to shoot for the brain, try for the heart/ lungs, and also do not be stuck up on a specific type of shot only, as you might find a really great bull, already wary, close to a boundary, and the only shot availabe is into the heart lungs. Best if you know your anatomy well...
Also, shot palcement/ selection is less of a case on what I prefer, but what the client are comfortable with, or would like to try. Sometimes you get a guy that just WANT to do a fronatl brain shot, and who am I to disagree?

Oz, (Adam?) the Heym calibers are .470 and 500 NE. It is a friend of mine from Canada's guns, and he had a short break of 4.5 days to try and hunt an elephant with me. (He shot one the morning of the day that he had to fly back...) He wanted me to carry the .470 and automatically back him up, which I was happy to do in case we where following a lone bull, which we did in the end.
(As I am personally not used to using doubles, I told him that in the case of a group of bulls, or when tracking close by cow herds, I will stick to my trusty .450 Rigby bolt trash, as I know it intimately.)
They performed excellent, and after handling quite a few doubles during the last couple of years, Heym would be my first choice for the day when I might afford a double (way off into the future...!)
(Verney Carron would be a close second.)
I have a few interesting recovered bullets from this year, if I can dig that up, it might make for some good discussion.
