Tinker and anyone else interested - the first thing to do is to google .375 Hawk Scovill. The ballistics and load info is just about straight transferable to the .375/06IMP and the 9.3x62 as well- start below max loads listed- always.

I say 'just about' as some guns use more powder than others to reach maximim pressure levels and one should always start low and work as pressure signs indicate.

When I used the googled .375 Scovill data, I achieved just about identical results with many of the loads, yet higher speeds with some and some lower - as you'd expect.

I didn't chronograph my first .375/06IMP which had normal case sizing - virtually idential to a 9.3x62, except for the shoulder angle. The loads I was able to use in that rifle seem way too high, so I haven't gotten around to working in those same powders, ie: 748, N201, 3031 and 760. I will note right now, that my max with 760 in THAT rifle, with a 350gr. Barnes, was 60.0gr. of 748 and 68.0gr. of W760. Do NOT use those loads - please. As I said, some rifles are annomolies.

My new .375/06IMP has the same chamber as Gord's - the .460" shoulder and .470" web for .005" taper per side,, compared to a normal .454" shoulder and .469" web for 7.5 thou taper per side.

Some were fireforming, some in formed brass - I see very virtually no difference in accuracy and velocity when shooting the heavier, 270 and 300gr. bullets in this ctg, as long as the powder will fit in a non-fireformed case.

Note that my barrel is 26" long, guys.

Note also the BLC2 loads for the 270gr.TSX are less than what I use in my 9.3x62 with 270gr. Speers. That rifle takes up to 68.0gr. BLC2 with those Speers for a speed of only 2,675fps. I settled on a load of 66gr. in it for an even 2,600fps.

Incidently, I recently chrnographed a BRNO ZKK 602 in .375H&H with factory WW 300gr. ST's at 2,472fps. Makes the little blown out '06 case look pretty good, A. One further point, after firing my first TSX with the max load of BLC2 @ 2,750fps, I said to the BRNO owner, watch this. I fired another when gave a reading of 2,474fps, then lifted the bolt of the MK10 Mauser with my little finger and extracted the case. I think if the extractor was removed, the bolt withdrawn, and the butt thumped on the table, the case would fall from the chamber. I did that test with a 26" .257 AckImp running 120's at 3,290fps - the case fell from the chamber of it's own weight. I LIKE AckIMP cases. One must be careful as the brass doesn't show stickiness with hot loads. The primer pockets will loosen before you get hard bolt lift.

1912 ballistics for the .375H&H ie: the ballistics that made the round famous virtually instantly, in Africa, ran a 300gr. at 2,400fps and a 270gr. at 2,600fps. Again, the little '06 case looks pretty good.
Of course, the ballistics that made the 9.3x62 popular in Africa was a soft or solid 286gr. at 2,175fps
