I just detest the look stainless/synthetic and the "plywood" looking laminates. The No.1 is about bringing the 19th century firearms to the modern chamberings. It's a loose translation of the British Farquharson of the late 1800's. To make it of stainless steel and plywood looking laminate is just an abomination of the firearm that Bill Ruger introduced.

That's just a personal thing with me. Yeah, I know you don't have to take care of stainless or synthetics or laminates like you do blued steel and walnut, but I've never had a problem with any of my blued steel and walnut guns. From coastal hunting to hunting high in the mountains, if you take care of your rifle, it will take care of you.

The recoil with the 416 was substantial. However I don't think it was anywhere near as bad as the 10.5 lb 500 Jeffery with Buff loads. Not something you would want to shoot at the bench for 20 shots, but if you practice and have shot hard recoiling guns well before, it isn't hard to master.
