Brakes on ruger #1 Big Bore Rifles

Do most ruger #1 Big Bore rifles need Muzzle Brakes or porting to tame recoil?Anyone got any recommendations?I know of the Answer brake,Magna -porting. Can local gunsmiths do this kind of work in there shop?Is it almost necessary after 375H&H Magnum type recoil in the ruger #1?
Will it be better not to brake because of the extra noise?
I just have noticed a lot of them that are being sold used have the muzzle brakes or porting on the them from previous owner.
