That article is utter bollocks.

In the last 4 years for which figures are available, an average of 199.something lions a year have been sport hunted in Tanzania.

The figure of 500 refers to those killed by other methods such as poison, snares and traditional hunting methods by the Masai.

As usual the press have got it wrong.... probably deliberately.
