Thanks guys. Projects like these usually don't happen without a client willing to give direction in the same direction the gunmaker wants to go. As well as taking suggestions on wood selection, and other details.

Most of my projects start out by drawing them 2D in CAD. This allows me to move stuff around before cutting any chips to get the look I want. I don't normally draw in 3D. My current CNC is a ProtoTrak 2axis on a Bridgeport copy. It's pretty quick to just program at the machine. I use "Millwrite" for converting a 2D DXF for lettering. The stock pattern for this project was inlet on the ProtoTrak and side profile & cheekpiece cut as well. The pattern was then shaped by hand and sent to the client. After adding a little requested "meat" in the grip it was glassed to the metalwork and duplicated on my manual duplicator. Knowing this piece of wood had the wow factor, I video taped the duplicating process. Some day I'll have some time to process the video.
