Am I the only one who isn't a fan of the CZ452's "backwards" safety?

A couple of years ago I bought a 452 Scout for one of my sons. I really tried to buy something else, because of the safety operation, but I didn't see anything that was well designed for a good "first rifle" with room to grow (i.e., short LOP, short barrel, single shot adapter but built for magazines, quality construction, etc.). So I ignored the safety.

Now he's regularly shooting several other rifles. Not surprisingly, all of their safeties work on a more typical forward-to-fire basis. The more he shoots, the more concerned I am that he's going to forget which is which.

To be fair: my kids have had gun safety drilled into their skulls from a very young age (ask the 3-year-old what happens when he points a toy gun at somebody). The worst thing that is likely to happen is a missed animal because he pushes the safety forward on his 452, or vice-versa on another rifle. But it still worries me.

It seems like there would be a viable market for a replacement safety unit for all of the 452's out there, but I can't find one. Am I just overlooking them? Do the majority of shooters think this is no big deal?
