Beautiful rifle, but I have never understood the rationale of the extension attached to the trigger guard. Does it have to do with giving support to the trigger finger in connection with use of the set trigger? I have seen Schuetzen rifles with that kind of arrangement, and have understood that that was the reason.

It escapes me how you could get a firm grip on the small of the stock using only the ring finger and the little finger, with the trigger finger on the trigger and the middle finger on the extension. The power of the 9.3X63 cartridge would seem to demand a firm grip.
