Gerard - I don't think you are being fair and seem to be in a particularly irascible mood today.
Holding a DR in your hand and observing OSR is physical evidence, and can be considered 'scientific' if a consensus on its visibility exists. Its only anecdotal if the evidence is second hand, i.e. my mate told me that he saw OSR once...
Lots of people who have shot, owned, and worked on DRs have said they observed it. By all accounts, more than one knowledgable person observed it on the same rifle at the same time at the 2010 Shot Show (or SCI, I don't remember from all the OSR threads - I remember Cal Pappas posting it though).
There's no need to throw your toys out of the pram. IMHO you made a number of unjustified assertions in your posts today.
At the end of the day everyone has an interest in understanding OSR. Regardless of whether monos are the cause or not, the most sensible suggestions so far (and certainly nothing new) is that banded solids seem to be the way forward for monos, the bullet shank should be under bore size, and the bands should be relatively soft.
