You are right! Jon Speed in OOSR, his first Mauser book, page 288:
"Around 1940 a Mauser engineer designed a special bolt detent pin, which kept the bolt firmly locked down and required an extra effort to lift the bolt handle. This detent pin was integrated into the sear mechanism and extended up through the bottom of the receiver to enter an axial groove milled into the third (safety) bolt lug."
