Well that makes two of us.

A"Fizzer", is a lure that floats on the water. There are little propellers at each end. As you pull the lure through the water, the propellars spin. This creates noise fish can hear, and disturbance fish can see on top of the water. So late afternoon doing this, up comes your Barra. The beauty of this is all the action happens on top of the water.

A "Popper" is a lure that also sits on top of the water. It has a spoon shaped mouth that causes a "Bloop" sound as you bring it in. Gold dust to a Barra. Again, all the action happens on top of the water.

Both lures need to be brought in in jerks, like 6 inch jerks, sit for a couple of seconds, jerk again. Not a constant pull like most lures. I like dark colours for Fizzers. Poppers, take your pick. I prefer darkish but whatever the guy at your fishing shop reckons will do. You can also get Saratoga on them, in fact in the fresh you will probably get more Saratoga than Barra.

If you dont have a baitcaster, I suggest you get one, and learn how to use it. Took me about 1 1/2 hours to master it. Tons of birdsnests, but wouldnt fish with anything else now. So talk to the guy in your fishing shop about gettinga "Fizzer", "Popper" and "Baitcaster". You'll also need a rod suitable for a baitcaster. Total cost? well under $200. Go to KMart and you'll get the lot for under $50. Just dont expect the baitcaster to work for long.
