Well they have .308 barrels as well. So same question, as to shooting .311 steel jacketed ammo through a .308 bore.

It seems to be regarded as OK, depending on 9.3's comment regarding "chamber neck relief".

I actually like the old SMLE lines of the AIA's and don't particularly like the Ruger's. However both would be an option.
