There's a funny story behind this, and yes this is the same Woodward Cabela's had out..

I was the second person to call on this gun whilst Cabela's had it, first dude ditched it, so I had my chance with it..

I had it sent to my smith for a quick looking over, he was not impressed, as the gun had several major problems. First being the cracked stock, the stock had also been cut and poorly pieced together with a horn plate. Next was the barrels, someone had drilled in to the rib and affixed a modern single scope mount for a german style receptacle scope. The bores were good but not great, as there was some pitting and frosting through the chamber, and in to the lands about 3-4" at the breech end.

With that said I could have bought it for $14,000.00 USD, but I passed on it and it sold for $14,500.00 about a week later.

Well, about 4 days ago I got a call explaining they had this wonderful little 303 Woodward in mint condition, and further explaining the gun is totally original. I asked for pictures and when they arrived I knew it was the same gun just weeks before I had passed on for $14k. So I called back and asked the history of the gun just to see what they would say. I got the "oh its been sitting in a widows closet for 30 years, its near perfect!"

I guess they just assume none of use are in the loop.

This one will be around for a long time now at $35k.

Another lesson learned, and the moral of the story: Buyer Beware
