My 1927 '03 is nothing special, GG375.
It's a Breda 6.5x54 made to augment the Steyr MSs made c. 1914 for the Greek army. Mine has a pitted receiver and a non-matching stock the dealer let me swap to get a better bit of wood. So mismatched, I had no compunctions sporterising it.

Peter Davern fixed the headspace and lopped off the barrel to 60 cm. Jack Millar cut off the plumb-sized knob and welded on a butter-knife bolt handle I'd filed out. I cut a bit out of the arctic trigger guard and welded it back to the commercial single-trigger shape. A shortened spring and a bit of hacksaw blade epoxied under the trigger housing lightened the pull and removed the first pressure. A CZ folding-leaf rear sight has replaced the old military ramp. I'm still looking for a banded front sight ramp after my hand-made effort got the sides milled crooked.

The rudimentary pistol hand miraculously had enough meat to sculpture into something like a commercial one. I searched for months to find a broken ebony elephant to cap it and the forend. Finally found the graveyard of elephants after some guy's wife refused to dust them any more, so have lifetime supply now. The butt has been carved with a European cheekpiece and shortened for the kids/to reach the bolt handle (shouldna' done that). The fore end has been slimmed to take out the flute. If I ever find that front sight I might get around to chequering it all yet.

I guess this all sounds crazy to purists but I used to enjoy turning metaphoric swords into ploughshares. I've done up two FN Mauser .30/06s to look like post-war sporters and was hoping to someday make something for Africa with a P14 or M17.

Cheers
- Paul
