Welcome! The building forum here is one of the most educational you will find. I like the sound of your project, and the 30-30 is a very handy round. It would be a great idea to manage final weight though - you won't enjoy it if it ends up handling like a fence post, as someone put it. I look forward to seeing your project come to reality.
